Florida Teens Behind Local Products Now Available in 240 South Florida Publix Stores

Posted on May 7, 2019

IMMOKALEE, FL – A business created and operated by high school students who were determined to find a way out of poverty for themselves and others is rapidly expanding throughout the State. After proving successful in the Naples-Fort Myers area, 240 additional Florida Publix stores will feature Taste of Immokalee’s line of salsa and sauces in their Buy Local displays.

Made from locally-sourced produce, all profits are returned to Immokalee to alleviate the extreme poverty in the area and support youth programs.

The student-run business had an earlier taste of success beyond their local market during a luncheon held in their honor at Blue Collar Miami. Both the products and students received rave reviews from attendees, including Miami Dolphins players Kenny Stills, Ja’Wuan James and Kenyan Drake. Stills was so moved by the program and its mission that he invited the students to be his VIP guests during the Dolphins vs. Patriots game. Former Dolphins player James shared in an interview with WSVN FOX Miami, “The flavors are amazing!”

Taste of Immokalee’s line of fresh, flavorful products that give back will be available by May 10, 2019 in stores throughout Florida:

  • Fire Roasted Tomato & Jalapeno Salsa
  • Pineapple & Mango Salsa
  • Chipotle BBQ Sauce
  • Mandarin Tangerine BBQ Sauce
